Colchester Open Meet 2011 Full results (including top twenty swimmers): Chelmsford retained the Reg Baines trophy for the best visiting club, with 180.5 points, comfortably ahead of Basildon & Phoenix on 135. Witham Dolphins (63) narrowly edged Clacton (61) into fourth place. However, Chelmsford had their girls to thank for the win. They amassed an incredible 133 points, one-and-a-half times the combined scores of second placed Clacton (50) and third placed Witham Dolphins (39). Basildon & Phoenix's boys dominated in a similar fashion, scoring 114 points to easily eclipse Chelmsford (47.5) and Witham Dolphins (24). Colchester swimmers Laura Stephens (who broke four records) and Philippa Davenall (who broke one record) both won all their five races, so the best girl award was decided on the "tie breaker" and went to Laura as the youngest swimmer. Competition was just as fierce in the boys' event, with last year's winner Spencer Prior of Colchester (who broke one record) and Tyler Berry of Basildon & Phoenix both gaining 29 points out of a maximum 30; Tyler collected the trophy as the youngest swimmer. For the third year in a row, records tumbled across the board - including four which had stood for at least 10 years! In all, seven Colchester swimmers broke records; apart from those mentioned above, Ellie Tripp set three, Jarrod Bradfield and Jim Vickers took two each, and Timothy Tripp got one. Hannah Travell of Chelmsford also helped herself to a new record.
